ISM University of Management and Economics was established in 1999 as the first private owned institution of management education in Lithuania. The main founders of ISM are BI Business School, one of the largest business schools in Europe, and innovation Norway.

ISM currently offers an education provision which is relatively wide and diverse, including Bachelor and Master studies, Doctoral programme, and Executive education.

ISM curriculum based on competence development has lead to increased emphasis on internships, case-based, project-based learning allowing integration of knowledge and skills. ISM is the first to adopt a method of business cases widely used by advanced universities all over the world and to introduce the first Lithuanian business cases.

 

ISM on the Undergraduate level has double degree agreements with BI Norwegian Business School and INSEEC Bordeaux. On the Graduate level ISM has developed double degree programmes with the INSEEC Paris University in France, the University of Liege, Belgium, and 2 programmes with BI Norwegian Business School in the area of International Management and Master of Management.

ISM is the only private university in Lithuania offering PhD studies in management and administration. In 2007 ISM PhD programme was ranked number one in Lithuania by the Science Council of Lithuania.

 

Active participation in a number of international organizations (BMDA, BSRUN, CEEMAN, EFMD, EIASM, ACC, EBEN, NLCC, EAIE) represents an effective contribution of ISM to the development of management education in the region.
